Inspiring the next generation of young readers

One of the main reasons that I became an Author in the first place was to encourage and inspire children to read from a very early age.

It's something that I feel incredibly passionate about and is why I spend most of my time visiting both Primary and Secondary schools across the UK.

As a trained teacher myself, I know how important it is to instil a love of books, reading and writing from the very start.

I am a huge fan of Roald Dahl and Matilda was and is by far my favourite story to return to time after time, though I have to say James and the Giant Peach is right up there too.

Being inspired and having my eyes opened to the fantastical worlds that he created, has made me even more determined to be able to try and do the same for the children I get to meet and come into contact with.

Having the chance to be able to inspire children to enjoy reading and to introduce them to the concepts of planning, perfecting and promoting a book is quite literally a dream come true.

From Rolo to Terror at the Sweet Shop and now Chester's Fairground, each of my books explore different themes; but I hope in a fun and entertaining way. Well that's at least been the feedback from my young tester readers anyway.

It would be great to hear from you about what books have inspired you or which stories have transported you to a completely different world. Do please get in touch HERE as I'd love to hear from you.

Have fun reading!
